Internal visual imagery (IVI) and external visual imagery (EVI)

In motor imagery, internal visual imagery (IVI) means "seeing" the movement from the first-person—as if you are doing it and looking through your own eyes. External visual imagery (EVI) means "seeing" yourself from the outside, as if watching yourself in a video. The MIQ-3 measures both (along with kinesthetic imagery). First-person imagery tends to activate motor cortex more strongly and is often emphasized in graded motor imagery and sport. The Imagination Index measures motor imagery as one of the six senses without separating IVI and EVI in the main linear score.
